Welcome to Blackberry Farms online shop, Rare Breed Pork Online.co.uk

The source of our food matters; the way our food is raised and grown matters. But rarely do we know where the food we buy comes from or how it is raised. For too long, the industrialisation required to mass produce food in this country has debased the quality of the products that reach our tables.

On Blackberry Farm we offer a new perspective on one segment of this industry, raising pigs, using old fashioned farming methods that put the finest animals first. As a result we produce what we and many chefs believe to be the Ultimate Pork in the UK. It’s one thing being holistic but in order for the pork you buy from us to be the best, it has to be, not only the finest black footed breed, allowed to grow slowly for 18 to 24 months, but it also has to be properly cared for while it is alive. The entire quality of life of the animal is paramount. We have created a model for raising our black footed pigs founded on a respect for nature and an appreciation of the quality of life for the pigs. We ensure that all our pigs have a life which is as near as possible to their wild boar ancestors and which enables them to exhibit their naturally sociable behaviour.

Here at Blackberry farm we believe that because our fantastic pigs are raised slowly in a chemically free environment according to their nature and to organic standards, we produce the ultimate in rare breed pork. All our pork is carbon neutral and so has the minimum impact on the surrounding environment.

We hope that those who buy from our online shop also share and support our  welfare and environmental convictions.

Our pork provides a truly gourmet experience, it has a unique profile combining the ideal balance of size and maturity. Harvesting the pigs at the optimal age of 19 months (compared to 4 1/2 months for a conventional reared pig), makes the structure of the meat fine and compact, giving a high degree of tenderness and a “red blush” nature that contrasts beautifully with the amazing white crystalline fat marbled throughout. All the characteristics of a healthy, active pig are evident by the delicate but more "porky, nutty" flavour  infused throughout the meat.

See the" About us " page to find out the lengths we go to in  producing the ultimate rare breed pork from our British Black footed pigs.

This is what people are saying about our pork

I think it's fantastic !I like the fact that it's a different colour, that the chops were so fantastically fatty. That lard as well... oh man, so good. I think the people that would buy your stuff aren't looking for uniform pieces of meat, or things that they can get in the supermarkets. The meat feels like it comes from animals of different shapes and sizes and tastes incredible, far better than I've bought from our (decent) local butcher or The Ginger Pig, etc. Deeply impressed.

In His food Blog http://thelambshankredemption.blogspot.co.uk he writes (Blackberry Farm does incredible pork. As well as some incredible bacon - and if you've seen better crispy bacon than this recently I want to know where..... thay do seriously good meat -these chops one of the best things I've eaten all year.)
